Danny Michel with the Garifuna Collective
Not performing in 2017
(Ontario, Canada) Singer-Songwriter
Treasured songwriter, David Suzuki-approved green strummer and quiet do-gooder, Danny’s 10th album, Black Birds Are Dancing Over Me, dives into the waves of Belize’s musical deep, saturating Danny’s imagery in a rich tropical palette featuring Mayan guitar, turtle shells, donkey jaw-bone and traditional Garifuna percussion. Its lush rhythms and sounds are the synchronistic backdrop for Michel’s eloquent, buoyant songwriting. Danny relocated from the Golden Horseshoe to the foot of Central America’s Xunantunich Mayan ruins to make the record, teaming up with members of the Garifuna Collective, The Benque Players and pioneering Stonetree Records producer Ivan Duran.
