Under Your Hat 2016 is going to be a night to remember! On April 26th at 6 pm, join the Calgary Folk Fest for amazing cocktails, abundant hors d'oeuvres and an incredible silent auction at The Nash and Off Cut Bar. The party continues at Festival Hall with more libations, a sneak peek of the 2016 Folk Fest line up and a private concert by The Sadies.
Dallas and Travis Good developed their deep fondness and reverence for country, bluegrass and blues naturally as the nephews and sons of the iconic Good Brothers, giving them a rock solid base to launch a career some 22 years and 14 albums ago. With Mike Belitsky on drums, and Sean Dean on bass, The Sadies weave an intense tapestry. Like a surfing cowboy wearing a Nehru jacket, they’re versatile, flexible and adventurous, creating an evolving catalogue of work and constantly picking up converts. Blistering instrumentals, country rave-ups, super-human guitar interplay and mind-blowing psychedelic expeditions that can end up anywhere create a live show that exemplifies why they have few peers. They’re considered a band’s band, with fans and collaborators ranging from expat British punk rocker Jon Langford, L.A. troubadours X’s John Doe, old timey R&B master Andre Williams, alt-country starlet Neko Case and alt-rocker Jon Spencer to Canadians Neil Young and Buffy St. Marie, who provided mouth-bow and haunting vocals on their last album.
As the first to know who is coming to the Festival, we will ask you to keep it Under Your Hat!
Under Your Hat is a fundraiser for the Calgary Folk Music Festival. Tickets are $200 and include the evening's refreshments, concert and a $100 tax receipt.
