The Calgary Folk Music Festival continues the celebration of its 35th year by linking some of Calgary's early folk stars and its newest. Young archivist and musician Mike Tod, along with Gillian McKercher, dug deep into Calgary's history to document Calgary's burgeoning-yet-underrepresented roots culture, exploring the folk music community through the opinions, songs and stories of local musicians. Following the film will be live performances by longtime educators and folk musicians Tim Rogers and Barry Luft, old-time/early tango multi-instrumentalist Nathan Godfrey; folksinger and folklorist Mike Tod; multi-instrumentalist/traditionalist Robbie Bankes and cellist Elizabeth Brennan.

This is a rare opportunity to experience the roots of Calgary's acoustic/folk/roots community and its future, keeping traditions alive in an authentic, beautiful way.
