Since 1979 the Folk Festival Society of Calgary has produced the Calgary Folk Music Festival at Prince’s Island Park, as well as related events at other venues throughout the year. In 2013 the Society opened Festival Hall in Inglewood, which added another exciting dimension to the continuing evolution of the Society as one of the premier arts organizations in Calgary. The Society operates as a not-for-profit entity and a registered charitable organization with an annual budget of over $4 million, nine full-time and six-part time staff and 2000 volunteers.
The Society is currently seeking an Executive Director who will work closely with senior management to maintain a thriving Festival that enhances the quality of life in our community through the celebration of music from diverse cultures. The successful candidate for the Society’s key leadership role will be accountable to the Board of Directors for the success and long-term sustainability of the Folk Music Festival and Festival Hall. S/he will be familiar with the funding and financial challenges common to such organizations, will have an excellent track record creating and meeting budgets, will have an understanding of facility operations, and will possess the financial acumen and strategic organizational and planning skills to lead the Society while engaging and motivating staff.
This special person will give direction and leadership to provide the vision and implement the Society's strategic goals and objectives.
