Standards And Selection

The Calgary Folk Music Festival lays host to over 12,000 hungry patrons, volunteers, and others. To keep these fine folks energized, we engage over 25 unique food vendors. Every year we get more applications than we can place, so we choose vendors based on the following criteria:

  • variety and quality of food
  • pricepoint and affordability
  • commitment to our eco-initiatives
  • adaptability to different dietary restrictions (vegan/gluten free/halal etc.) 

The Festival provides space for you to operate, electrical, and water/grey water hookups. Vendors are required to provide flooring, a sump pump, handwash sinks, fresh/grey water hose, extension cords, lighting, tent and all other equipment. 

Vendors are required to comply with all health and building code regulations, and provide proof of insurance. The festival is a no-waste event and requires vendors to participate in composting, recycling and other green programs. All cupware, plateware, cutlery and etc. must be certified compostable and approved by the festival before use.

Fees and Services

Please be advised that because the festival takes place on an island, space and electrical are extremely limited. Priority is given to vendors with a small footprint and low power consumption. The fees for 2018 will scale depending on size and power draw.

ARTS MARKET 

Standards and Selection

The Calgary Folk Music Festival's Arts Market is a unique hub of creativity, craftsmanship and community, and we are inviting artisans to apply to be a part of the experience! Over 12,500 people come through the festival site each day, creating a buzzing marketplace environment, and making it one of the most heavily trafficked artisan markets in the city. 

Along with your application, we are looking for professionally presented samples that best represent your art. All samples will be a part of an adjudication, with attention paid to the following standards: quality of work, aesthetic appeal, price range, overall variety of submissions and genre of art or service. Priority will be given to artists and artisans who curate and create their own handcrafted items. The Calgary Folk Music Festival assumes no responsibility for lost or damaged samples. 

To apply, fill out the application form and submit your professionally presented sample to our office at 1215 10th Ave SE, Calgary, Alberta T2G 0W6. Applications close on April 1, 2018 samples may be dropped off until end-of-day (5 PM) on April 2nd. Your samples will be released for pick up after April 15, 2018. If you would like your sample mailed back, be sure to include prepaid postage in the form of an electronic shipping label. (No cheques or cash, please!) Samples not picked up by April 30, 2018 will be lovingly donated. 

Fees And Services

The fee for your shop space in the 2018 Arts Market is $725 + $35 GST. The fee includes:

  • three (3) 4-day single user wristbands
  • inclusion in specific promotional materials
  • overnight storage Thursday, Friday and Saturday
  • one (1) festival program
  • 10' x 10' booth space (overhead coverage, table, chairs, extension cords, weatherproofing supplies and display pieces are the vendor's responsibility)
  • on-site festival liaison
  • a single line of 110 volt electricity, as needed
  • a weekend full of networking, amazing music and friend-making.
