How do I apply to become a volunteer?
If you are interested in volunteering as a CFMF volunteer, you must first fill out an online application form, and then attend a New Volunteer Orientation. From there, you will learn about the Festival and how to become a volunteer.
Volunteer applications will open March 17, 2017 @ 12 pm
How many hours are required?
It really depends on what crew you are on, and when you volunteer.
Pre & post-Festival crews: 24-36 hours
During Festival crews: 16-20 hours
What type of duties can I expect?
Duties will vary from crew to crew. When you are invited to choose a crew, you can read a general overview to see what to expect. After you are accepted on a crew, your Crew Coordinator will go over duties and expectations.
How do I choose a crew?
After you attend an orientation session, you will be given instruction on how to request a crew. Depending on the crew's requirements, you may have to undergo an interview, certification or training before you are accepted.
Who do I contact if I have questions?
Once you are accepted on a crew, your main point of contact will be your Crew Coordinator. If you have questions before you are placed on a crew, or can't get a hold of your Crew Coordinator, you can contact our Volunteer Manager, Emily, via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I signed up for an orientation and can no longer attend. Can I sign up for another date?
Yes, you can! You can choose another orientation date by logging back into your profile.
I can’t attend any of the volunteer orientations. Can I still volunteer?
When you look at the list of orientation dates, you will find a ‘I am unable to attend an orientation’ option. Click on that, and we’ll contact you!

How do I confirm my intentions for 2017?
We will be sending out instructions on how to confirm your 2017 intentions after March 10.
Am I guaranteed a spot on my crew from last year?
Returning volunteers are guaranteed placement on their crews until April 7, 2017. After that date, they are still welcome to return, but may have to transfer to another area, if their crew becomes full. Volunteers who have been marked recontact for 2+ yrs are automatically marked as discontinue contact. If this has happened to you, and you want to return, you must contact email@example.com and she will assist you with reactivating your account.
I requested to transfer crews this year. When will I find out if I was accepted?
Returning volunteers have until April 7, 2017 to confirm themselves on their 2016 crew. After that date, we will start to accept transfer requests. This may take some time depending on the crew - some require interviews, certification, etc. Returning volunteers requesting to transfer have crew placement priority over new volunteers.
Who will be contacting me about my crew?
Once you have confirmed your 2017 intentions, your Crew Coordinator will contact you with further crew details.

How early should I arrive for a shift?
We recommend that you arrive 15 minutes early to each shift.
I can't volunteer anymore, what do I do?
Tell your Crew Coordinator and the Volunteer Manager immediately via phone AND email. Failure to properly notify your supervisors may result in removal from the CFMF volunteer program.
I'm going to be late or miss a shift, what do I do?
Tell your Crew Coordinator immediately. You can call the Festival Office at (403)-233-0904 and we will redirect the message to your Crew Coordinator. You should send a follow up email to your Crew Coordinator. Failure to notify your Crew Coordinator may result in volunteer follow up and possible removal from the CFMF volunteer program.
