My Brightest Diamond
Shara Worden is loved for her mystical voice, mythic storytelling and arresting live performances. Growing up outside Detroit in musical evangelist family, she studied multiple instruments, becoming equally passionate about classical and Motown, later pursuing an opera degree. After moving to New York by way of Moscow, Worden recorded three albums before joining the ranks of Sufjan Stevens‘ Illinoisemakers. She later studied composition under Padma Newsome (Clogs, The National), and scored several off-Broadway productions. Worden is part of a growing movement of border- bending experimental musicians who collaborate with visual artists and filmmakers. Her latest offering, All Things Will Unwind, is a mesmerizing folk-inspired lullaby that juxtaposes life and death, class and race, pantries and politics.
