Jenny is a violinist, singer, and composer of beautiful, complex and creative songs with and without words. Growing up in a Northern California homestead, she has been performing since her teens and has worked extensively with some of the world’s most innovative artists: Bill Frisell, Jason Moran, Nels Cline and Marc Ribot. She has also toured and recorded with numerous American songwriting legends such as Lucinda Williams, Bruce Cockburn, Rodney Crowell, Lou Reed and Ani Difranco. In March of 2015 she premiered a multi-media performance Kannapolis: A Moving Portrait. She has made eight albums of original music and consistently tops the Downbeat Jazz Critics polls. Her deep familiarity with old-time both jazz and old time tunes plus her ability to craft songs from a particular place or mood means you’re likely to find Jenny Sheinman just about anywhere — on the road with stellar artists, on her own, playing jazz or morphing her music into a new hybrid.
