L'omelette

Calgary, AB

Megs Benedict, leader of L’Omelette, says she likes to get some cardio or at least a bit of yoga in before a live show to get the blood flowing. In between singing, playing saxophone, guitar and synth, she also likes to dance. It’s quite a workout with Benedict’s powerhouse soulful voice and multiple instruments complemented by guitarist Alex Klipper’s tastefully rhythmic riffs, Matthew Lowe’s melodic bass lines and Pete Cormier’s driving beats. The band formed in 2017 and after their 2021 EP Cigarette Party, L’Omelette released their first full length release, You Are Here in 2022. It’s a heady mix of jazz, funk, soul and French pop ranging from the off-time dance romp of “Jungle love” to the breezy pop of “What Day of the Week is it Anyway?” It’s an impressive debut from a band building a solid reputation for energetic live shows.
