If the definition of versatile is a band leader with a harmonica strapped to her neck and an upright bass in front of her who alternates between both and lead vocals, then Angelique Francis is that word's poster child. She plays the audience like a revivalist preacher, telling stories and delivering uplifting lyrics as she grooves on double and electric bass as well as blues harmonica. Her questions and monologues are sung, not spoken, adding to her charm. With soulful, smoky vocals and instrumental techniques reminiscent of a bygone era, but with a unique and modern twist, she moves through blues, soul, folk, jazz, gospel and rock. She’ll be joined by her siblings Kharincia and Kiran on sax, vocals and drums for an energetic, powerhouse trio show.
