From the opening lines of ‘Dancing in the Living Room,’ the opening track to his 2019 release Easy Keeper, Del Barber’s voices oozes the assuredness of a travelled veteran musician, well-heeled in tales of dank bars and broken strings. It's a well earned voice, after 10 years of North American touring; the authenticity of it borne both of his prairie upbringing and clear admiration for his influences. His penchant for songs that tell stories of big skies, gravel roads, small towns and nearly always longing for or coming back home certainly adds to his bona fides. At times evoking a twang to enhance his rootsy sensibilities Barber’s songs – seemingly highly personal but at once familiar – scream for a small stage, a cold beer with a tall whiskey chaser, and the warmth of friends on cold nights.
