About Wood Andrewnull

Producer, mixer & singer-songwriter’s upcoming debut album (as Legal Vertigo) Tragic Future Film Star is a wonderfully over-produced pseudo-pop album with narrative lyrics about the strangeness, comforts and consequences of the neo-liberal lifestyle, interrupted now and then by moments of peace, silliness and frustration.

About Basia Bulat · Toronto, ON

Over the course of five albums, multi-instrumentalist (electric guitar, piano, autoharp, ukulele, bass and charango) Basia Bulat has built an intrinsic contemporary sound based on a love of classic folk, country and R&B songwriting.

Are You in Love? — set for release March 27, 2020 — is three-time Polaris Prize finalist and Juno-nominee Bulat’s glittering fifth album. Like 2016’s Good Advice, it was made with My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James, this time in Kentucky and Joshua Tree. Gathered at Hi-Dez Studios in the Mojave desert, Bulat and her band jammed for hours and then built fires, went for hikes and drove in circles chasing dust-devils and mirages. James helped her trust her instincts. The album includes lyrics written with her friend, U.S. Girls’ Meg Remy, and everything from melting keyboard parts to Mojave field recordings by multi-instrumentalist and now husband Andrew Woods. Are You in Love? was born of death and grief, but also forgiveness, reinvention, love and raw electric hope. Her clear vibrato and pure songs create a gorgeous and startling album that’s quietly strange — a shining desert record with a bit of dusty rose over all its thirteen tracks.
