About Jenn Grant · Lake Echo, NS
There are few artists working in Canada that boast the stature of Jenn Grant. From her more traditional singer-songwriter, roots and folk beginnings, Grant’s trajectory has seen her continually evolve, as much a luminary as a connector of people and sounds. As a songwriter, Grant occupies a singular place in Canada’s musical landscape, creating music that sees cinematic arrangements contrast with sparse piano, indie pop tropes nestled alongside wistful songwriter-forward tracks. On her latest album, Champagne Problems, the collaborator in her shines bright – the album is filled with some of the luminaries of the Canadian music community. Artists including CFMF alumni Dan Mangan, Basia Bulat and Bahamas and others, (all esteemed and respected in their own right), helped Grant realize songs that arose in the shadow of the pandemic and lockdowns. Quietly magnetic, Grant’s music invites repeated and careful listens, drawing you into a lush world of grace, desire and introspection that moves effortlessly from her recordings to her performances. A not-to-be-missed highlight of this year’s festival, Grant invites you to be transported to a place that only she could create.
