Opening Act

Mariel Buckley

It’s the kind of sound many musicians take years searching for, and since the rave reception of Mariel Buckley’s acclaimed sophomore album, Driving In The Dark, she continues to set the bar for roots music in Canada. Buckley’s momentum has built quickly, and she finds herself as one of alt-country’s busiest acts, with recent performances in support of k.d. lang, Hayes Carll, Sarah Shook & The Disarmers, The Deep Dark Woods and Serena Ryder; as well as entertaining audiences throughout North America.

A mesmerizing performer and studious songwriter, Mariel Buckley proves that with each new endeavour, she is bound to vulnerability and truth. This signature candour is what captivates audiences and listeners alike, and has planted her flag firmly as a songwriter in it for the long haul.

After spending their early years backing other artists and touring the world as hired musicians, the band The Bros. Landreth grew out of Joey and Dave Landreth’s desire to spend more time making noise together. Their roots rock sound became their acclaimed, JUNO-award winning debut 2013 album, Let It Lie, which was praised as a “quiet storm of slide guitar solos, blue notes, three part harmonies” (Rolling Stone Magazine) and “funky, southern style rock played with such originality and soul will knock you out" (lifelong musical hero, Bonnie Raitt). Joey toured his solo album Whiskey in 2017, furthering his reputation as a first-rate guitar slinger, songwriter and performer. This booming solo career delayed the brothers’ timeline, yet they never stopped writing songs that will be on their long-awaited release, ’87, a nod to the band’s true beginning: the year they became brothers. It represents an exciting evolution of their sound, honed by thousands of hours on stage and filtered through the lens of road warriors.
