Red Hot Hayseeds

The uptempo, toe-tapping, dance-inducing rhythm and melodies of western swing are the foundation of Calgary’s charming Red Hot Hayseeds. With clever originals that seamlessly blend in with timeless classics, Red Hot Hayseeds are the real deal, paying homage to the golden ages of hot swing and western music spanning 1920 to 1950. At the core of the Red Hot Hayseeds are Tyler Allen and Dayna Moritz. They are impeccable: exemplary musicianship, keen sense of style, and exceptional harmonies are the trademarks of a Red Hot Hayseeds performance. These swingin’ cowpokes will have you jumping on their haywagon for a ride to the Saturday barn dance.

Featuring

Bryson Waind and the CB

Bryson Waind comes by his folk, bluegrass and deep country leanings honestly. Fifteen years of driving tractors and working Niagara and Nova Scotia vineyards afforded him the time and solitude needed to allow his songwriting to take shape and mature organically. Now firmly ensconced in the Calgary music community, his skills have only sharpened. Waind’s respect and love for the art of the song can be heard in his carefully chosen lyrics, catchy melodies and straightforward as-the-crow-flies delivery. The characters in his songs discover treasures in the lost and found, muse over bottomless cups of coffee, and dodge streaks of luck that run from bad to worse. Whether performing with his band or accompanying himself on guitar or mandolin, Waind’s songs expose the intricate roots that have shaped his thoughtful, musical journey. Bryson Waind and the CB’s 2022 album Channel Breaker is all about singing and folk song writing (with a few detours into outlaw country and jam-band territory). Through it all, it’s Waind’s unpretentious, rough-around-the-edges voice that serves as the carafe, delivering a superior vintage.
