2019 Artist Submissions
We accept artist outreach from September 1 - December 15 ONLY.
The Festival is a curated event that doesn’t accept unsolicited submissions. We remain curious and interested in hearing new music. If you’d like to get on our radar:
Send an email to email@example.com from September 1 - December 15 ONLY
• your band/artist/agency name in the header. If you represent several, include them in one email
• a short bio and link to streamed music and 1- 2 key videos that exemplify your live performance for the artist(s) you represent
• please no attachments or download links - keep everything in the body of the email, including streamed music and links to bios/materials
The 40th annual Calgary Folk Music Festival is July 25 - 28, 2018, at Prince's Island Park.
Of the 70 artists programmed annually, about half are Canadian (approximately 12 from Alberta), a third from the U.S. and the rest from outside North America. A wide variety of artists and musical genres are presented.
The Festival can’t cover flight costs, so a late July Western Canadian tour and/or travel support make a possible play here more economically feasible for artists and us.
We aim to program a high quality, diverse festival. Each fall, we begin with priority lists that far exceed the number of artists we can realistically program and then discover more amazing music by keeping our ears and eyes open, attending festivals and conferences, talking to colleagues, etc. We rarely repeat artists to give others an opportunity and to present a fresh program to the audience.
PLEASE DO NOT add us to your newsletter lists.
We have a mind-boggling number of enticing options for very few spots, so we are only able to include a small percentage of artists who might fit here/want to perform here.
With thousands of inquiries annually, in addition to our day-to-day operations, we’re simply not able to listen to everything or acknowledge receipt but we appreciate your interest in our festival. We will be in touch if we’re able to make an offer.
