Bryson Waind comes by his folk, bluegrass and deep country leanings honestly. Fifteen years of driving tractors and working Niagara and Nova Scotia vineyards afforded him the time and solitude needed to allow his songwriting to take shape and mature organically. Now firmly ensconced in the Calgary music community, his skills have only sharpened. Waind’s respect and love for the art of the song can be heard in his carefully chosen lyrics, catchy melodies and straightforward as-the-crow-flies delivery. The characters in his songs discover treasures in the lost and found, muse over bottomless cups of coffee, and dodge streaks of luck that run from bad to worse. Whether performing with his band or accompanying himself on guitar or mandolin, Waind’s songs expose the intricate roots that have shaped his thoughtful, musical journey. Bryson Waind and the CB’s 2022 album is all about singing and folk song writing (with a few detours into outlaw country and jam-band territory). Through it all, it’s Waind’s unpretentious, rough-around-the-edges voice that serves as the carafe, delivering a superior vintage.
