Secret Agent 23 Skidoo is a Grammy winning, internationally touring, purple velvet tuxedo wearing, family funk phenomenon that combines the positive, primal power of hip hop with the surreal storytelling of science fiction.
This project could be the love child of Dr. Seuss and Dr. Dre. The ingredients of their magic spells include reverence for the boundless mindstates of young children, respect for funk and soul music’s DNA and a deep belief in the power of the imagination to make positive changes.
In 2007, after spending over a decade touring with various live hip hop groups, Skidoo took a break and taught his young daughter Saki (aka MC Fireworks) to rap, and together they made a family hip hop album. In the next decade, 23 Skidoo, MC Fireworks and Bootysattva (aka mom) played major festivals, and got glowing reviews and radio play. As well as releasing six full length albums, two books, one record, a line of hot sauce, and an EP that combines the Asheville Symphony with beats and rhymes, 23 Skidoo has taught countless kids to write their own rhymes.
Secret Agent 23 Skidoo has evolved a sound and style that never dumbs down the music or underestimates the audience. With funk and beats as real as bands that play at midnight and lyrics that aren’t afraid to employ a large vocabulary, Skidoo fashions a world targeted for the whole family.
