What transpires when some of Canada’s most in-demand session musicians conspire to create something new? Bingo – The Hello Darlins. Their roots go back to 2016 when in-demand vocalist Candace Lacina and hot session Hammond B3 player and keyboardist Mike Little began collaborating as songwriters and producers after working together on a studio session for George Canyon. The duo aimed to write an Americana/folk-roots project dedicated to creating cool sounds using real instrumentation, classic instruments and no vocal tuning, for fun. New focuses and priorities during the pandemic turned that experiment into something more serious; proof positive that teamwork can lead to exceptional results. Stepping out from behind the scenes in 2020, the band officially began to take shape when producer and friend Murray Pulver suggested making a record. The goals were to keep it real and create a sound that translated live with no tracks or studio tricks. Their apropos-named album Go By Feel was released in 2021 to critical acclaim, garnering significant streaming and radio play and leading to international touring. Joining Little, Pulver and Lacina is a powerhouse cast that forges a distinct hybrid of rooted country, gospel and blues.
