DON’T MISS THESE EATS AT THE CALGARY FOLK MUSIC FESTIVAL

While the Calgary Folk Music Festival offers flexibility to bring in your own food and beverage (no glass or booze permitted), sometimes hauling a cooler with your lawn chair just isn’t worth the effort. So we’ve found some compelling examples of nosh and drink that will keep you fueled up to enjoy a weekend full of music.
As you walk through the main gates, Slow Food Calgary immediately tempts you with a superb array of choices, punctuated by a daily special from a guest chef. Jamie Harling from Deane Houseshowcases braised boar cheeks with farro, snap peas and glazed apricots. Coupled with a glass of Saskatoon Berry Mint Tonic from The Coup, you have a perfect dinner.
As you venture further to the main stage, the selection gets more eclectic from sushi burritos to bocconcini salad and deep-fried pickles. Most vendors offer vegetarian and gluten-free options. Refreshment options are vast, while pressed juices and kombucha are standard. Check out the Blueberry Rooibos from Jusu for a fermented, sweet fizzy treat. With the soaring temperatures, staying hydrated is critical even with the tempting option of sangria, beer and cider from the Big Rockbeer garden.
With Eau Claire Market being a stone’s throw away, festival goers can visit Jackie’s for some value Thai or relax in the air-conditioned climes of The Garage for a pint and a Cadillac Burger. Sushi from Sumoand Italian from Prego Cucina Italiana are excellent dinner options for a little refinement.
The Calgary Folk Music Festival is happening this weekend and runs until July 30.
