Ndidi O

from Vancouver, BC

Ndidi O’s (short for Onukwulu) singing career has gone in loops since her upbringing in British Columbia's rural north. After turning heads on the New York open mic scene with her silky voice, she landed in Toronto rock and electronic bands. She then returned to her home province and her musical roots: blues and soul music, a career-defining, award-winning move. Then a major label in France inked her to a multi-album turn as a pop-tinged jazz singer. Guess where she is again: back in the groove.

For the independently released album These Days, Ndidi relocated to LA and back to the blues - mostly. Between her trip hop duo, BOGA, and collaborations with singer-songwriter Trish Klein, Ndidi is writing songs the way she wants to: music of pain and working people, of coming together and the struggles that tear us apart. Her voice can slink into melancholic moan and swell into forceful verve with the genre-bending sensibilities you'd expect of someone who's been here, there and back again.
