Pharis and Jason Romero

from Horsefly, BC

It should come as no surprise that "some scratchy old records and a custom banjo" led to their first contact in 2007, once you hear Pharis and Jason Romero’s peerless harmonies and timeless music. Since joining musical (and life) forces, their creative output has reflected their deep love for early country, old time, folk, blues and bluegrass. They're seemingly unbeatable in the Traditional Roots category, having won three Juno Awards, most recently for their 2020 release Bet on Love. After six albums, the Romeros seem to have found a groove all their own - a newfound gem of a scratchy old record, full of luscious harmonies and ancient and aching songs that feel like a reverberation from the past, but a perfect antidote to the modern world. With songs inspired by their pastoral world and lifestyle, focused on balance, simplicity and intention, plus a busting boutique banjo business and raising two children, the balancing act itself becomes an artform.
